I’m copying some fairly large files (3-10 MB) over a WAN VPN during a build. Under XP, this gave me a nice progress bar as the file was copied, so it was clear progress was being made. Under Vista, I get 1-4 updates of the progress bar 20-30 seconds apart. This may be an issue with Vista, not FB 5, but I thought I’d report it anyway. I do recall that Vista increased the default block size for file operations to improve speed, and that might be the cause of this, unless there is some option to provide more fine grained progress info.

I see the same thing on my machine (vista business X64), I tried copying a 1G file over our network and the progress jumps in what seems like blocks. We also tested on Tate’s machine (XP x64) and it gives smooth progress. The Copy File action uses a callback from the windows api call for progress… so I don’t think there is anything we can do about this, just yet another change in Vista!
