Vault Diff

We use FB5 with Vault and I was pleased to see a Vault Diff action in FB.  In the description of the Vault Diff action, it states that it can compare objects outside Vault as well as inside...  I want to write a FB project that compares Folder A with Folder B (folders on a Windows file system) giving output: -

1. Files in Folder A but not in Folder B

2. Files in Folder B but not in Folder A

and also...

3. Differences between files that exist in Folder A and Folder B

I can use Vault Diff to do the above via the Vault Diff GUI.   However, I can't seem to get the Vault Diff action to work in this way.  When I tried to test the action, it seemed to want to go off to the Vault repository no matter what and it hangs.   Is it possible to do what I want via the Vault Diff FB Action?  If not, what's the best way to do it?  Can someone give me more info on this please?

Thanks

Clive

Hi Clive,

You have a reply via email, but I’ll copy it here for completeness:

I’m not really sure if Vault Diff is designed to diff two objects which are both outside the repository. One object can certainly be outside the repository. If you put in the details for your Vault server and repository, but use local file paths for both objects, does the diff still work as described?

I would test this out myself right now, but we’re currently running Vault 4, and this action is only available in Vault 3 and earlier. If necessary I can downgrade and test it out for you.

Please let us know how you go.
