Text Replace Action Problem in V6

The Text Replace action in V6.2.0.1084 doesn't work. The Search string: 'V6.06 **/**/**** Release' doesn't find Line 'V6.06 20/10/2008 Release' in the text file. Log reports 'No matches found'. The action works ok in V5.5.0.750. 'Whole lines only' and 'Wildcard * matches any substring' are checked.

Further investigation reveals that it is the date wildcard (**/**/****) matching which isn't working. Replacing this wildcard search date with the actual date in the appropriate line in the file matches ok.

Yet further investigation reveals that search string: ‘V6.06 * Release’ works. Different ‘Wildcard * matches any substring’ behaviour in V6!

This one took me a while to figure out… it is actually an unintended change in behavior. The reason it’s not matching is because of a new feature that was added in FB6 (from the help topic) :

If using wildcards, the characters * and ? can be escaped as ** and ??, respectively.


Unfortunately changing it back to the old behavior is not an option at this time.

Thanks Vincent. I’ve changed the search string to accomodate the change, so it’s not a problem.
