The .fbl4 file is actually the log file, so that won’t help you get your project back (although it might help you view which actions you used and the structure of the project - but won’t give you any of the details of the actions). If you want to view the log file, you can create a dummy project file, close FinalBuilder, delete the dummy log file and copy the log file you want to view as the name of the dummy log file you just deleted. Then restart FinalBuilder and you should be able to view the Build History and double-click a history row to see the detailed log.
Can you give me more information on the problem you had saving the project? We haven’t had any other reports of problems saving, so would definitely like to fix this if it’s some kind of bug in FinalBuilder.
Actually, it didn't take me too long to redo it all, and I'm happier with it now. Most of the time was taken working out how to do stuff.
All that I can tell you is that I saved the project. Opened Final Builder, didn't recognise the project that it opened by default, so went to load the saved one only to find it not there. Looked in the folder I saved it to and there was just the files I said. No project file.
Now I am backing up the files regularly in CVS, but as they are binary, this is not ideal. So the large file is the log eh? So can I ditch that from CVS, cause that would help a lot.
AlanPS: How are you getting blank lines to show in your posts?
You can save a Finalbuilder project as either a .fbz4 (which is effectively a zipped up copy of the project) or as a .fbp4 (which is the same thing but unzipped). If you are storing the project in some sort of source control then the latter is a better choice as it allows easy comparison between different versions etc. All I store in the .fbp4 file - I don’t bother about the rest.
Thanks for that, that’s gonna be alot better.Return key! Now why didn’t I think of that Don’t know what’s happening to my returns. Even html p tags don’t do it.Alan
