We have been working with VSS for a few years and finally we want to upgrade to a better tool, especially for merging versions. There are many options some Very expensive and some less. Can any of you recommend from your experience (sorry if this is not a specific FB question, but I know that here i will get a reliable respond)

If you have a look in the Off Topic forum here, you’ll see that Rod has asked pretty much the same question.
Since we support many version control systems, plus we have partnered with a couple of the vcs vendors (eg. MKS, AccuRev and Seapine) we won’t be offering any opinion on this as we don’t want to promote one above the other.
I will say though that VSS is probably one of the worst out there (see this interesting thread: http://www.codinghorror.com/blog/archives/000660.html), and there is a huge range of VCS’s of vastly varying capabilities and price - take some time to evaluate them and keep in mind that what you choose you’ll probably have to live with for quite some time.
