[Q] FB 4 and RSS & HTTPS

G'Day,

- I am currently running 4.2.0.305 Professional Edition
1. When I use HTTP Get File to retrieve a HTTPS based file I get "Error retrieving url: Could not load SSL library". I see 5.xx supports HTTPS, so I am guessing I would need to upgrade to get this?
2. Is there any RSS support in 4.x/5.x?

TIA

Hi Donovan,

1. Both FinalBuilder 4 & 5 support HTTPS protocol, but you need to have OpenSSL installed.

The action has been tested with OpenSSL version 0.9.7g
Download from: http://www.openssl.org/related/binaries.html

2. RSS - no, nothing specific has been added. What type of RSS support in particular are you looking for?

- I am using 4.2.0.305
- Have downloaded and installed however.... We have a our bug tracking system (FogBUGZ same as you use) secured by .htaccess on an SSL server. So all I want to be able to do for starters is retrieve the home page for the bug tracker. I would achieve this as:
https://donovan:somepassword@bugtracker.mydomain.com
However when using the "HTTP Get File" action it keeps telling me that auth fails ie 401. No matter whether I put my HTTPS credentials in the username and password text boxes or construct the URL as above or do both. So what am I missing here?

Guess I don't need it as I could use the XML stuff. I was basically looking at it so that I could get the RSS feed of a filter out of FogBUGZ.

TIA

Hi Donovan,

Have you tried changing the port to 443? (or whatever your secured FogBugz site is on?)

Yes. Makes no difference.

Hi Donovan,

Can you please try with this build:
https://www.finalbuilder.com/downloads/finalbuilder/500/FB500_174.exe

We’ve recently put in a change to FinalBuilder 5 for the HTTP Get action for IIS versions that change the way https sites allow authentication. Please try the above build and let me know if it works or not.

cheers,
tate.

Tried with 5.0.174 against our server which is Apache/2.0.52 and I can now dowload the login page to FogBUGZ with https. So now I guess you are going to tell me that if I want this working I have to upgrade to 5.x?

well, that’s good  Thanks for testing.

And yes… upgrading to FB5 would be a great idea! Check out some of these new features:
