Hi,
I’m trying to get FinalBuilder to send an email to a valid email address using IIS’ smtp server but I’m getting a socket error (11001) which leads me to believe that it’s unable to connect to the smtp server.
I’ve read online for a bit and my smtp server seems to be configured properly but then again I can’t seem to connect to it.
I know this isn’t most likely an issue with FinalBuilder but any help would be appreciated.
Here’s a screenshot of the action in FinalBuilder
Yeah, definately sounds like an IIS issue. If your machine is on a secure network, you could do what I did - Allow anonymous access and accept emails from any ip. This was the quick solution for me, but definately only an option if your machine isn’t accessible by unauthorized people.
Open a command prompt and try running:
telnet localhost 25
… that’ll tell you if IIS is accepting SMTP connections from your machine. If not, you’ll need to look into the allowed IP addresses list, as mentioned.
(If you do get a connection and an SMTP prompt, use the QUIT command to close the connection.)
Solved - my problem is that Mcafee anti-virus software was blocking port 25 which is the default port for the smtp server on IIS. Changed the port to something else and all is good now.
Great to hear you got it working. :)
