I don't have IIS installed on my local windows 7 box, since I knew it was a requirement I thought I would try to install any way to see if the installer realized that. I was really surprised how far through the process I was able to get before it stopped me and said that I could not install.
I would have expected the prereq check to happen after selecting which components should be installed.
Agreed. We’ll move the prereq check closer to the start. You can still install the server without IIS and install IIS afterwards though. At the moment the installer doesn’t do any IIS configuration, we’re still considering whether we need to do that (IIS is notoriously unreliable when automating it).
