No Finalbuilder Addon in Visual Studio 2008 Developeredition

Hei

i have downloaded the latest eval version of Finalbuilder and installed it. After starting the VIsual Studio there is NO Finalbuilder Addon and NO Entry für creating a Build with Finalbuilder.

Im using Visual Studio 2008 Developer Edition and Team Foundation Server 2008.

Hi Sebastian,

Could you check whether the ‘FinalBuilder Team Build Addin’ is listed in the Visual Studio Add-in Manager (Tools -> Add-in Manager)?

If it is and it’s enabled, are the FinalBuilder commands listed in the ‘Addins’ category of the Visual Studio Customize dialog (Tools -> Customize -> Commands Tab)?

Regards,
Paul.

Hi,

there is no 'FinalBuilder Team Build Addin'  listed in the Visual Studio Add-in Manager.

Sebastian

Hi Sebastian,

If you haven’t already done so, could you re-install FinalBuilder and then check to see whether the plug-in is available in Visual Studio? If it’s not, could you see whether the ‘FinalBuilder.TeamBuild.AddIn’ file has been installed in ‘C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins’ (or ‘C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins’ on Windows Vista/2008)?

This file contains the path to the FinalBuilder add-in assembly, which should be located in FinalBuilder program files directory.

If the files are present and contains the correct path to the add-in assembly, could you let me know which version of Windows you have installed and the culture settings on the machine so that we can try to reproduce the problem here.

Regards,
Paul.

Hi Paul,

after re-install there is no AddIn in VS. I found the FinalBuilder.TeamBuil.Addin under  "C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins".

My System:

Betriebssystemname Microsoft Windows XP Professional
Version 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3 Build 2600
Culture: Germany(German)

Regards,
Sebastian.

Hi Sebastian,

Thanks for information, it looks like the cause of this issue is a localization mistake in the paths that Visual Studio uses by default. If you open Visual Studio, goto Tools -> Options -> Environment -> Add-in/Macros Security, you'll notice that the path to 'C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins' has been set as '%ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins' ('Application Data' should be 'Anwendungsdaten'). You can fix this by clicking on the 'Add' button and selecting the correct folder, once Visual Studio has been restarted you will see the plug-in loaded.

Paul.

Yes, that helps, BUT:
Why do you put the Add-In File to the dir “C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Anwendungsdaten\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins”? I’ve also have a dir “C:\Dokumente und Einstellungen\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\MSEnvShared\Addins” where all my other Add-Ins are installed.
I’m not sure why a have this two folders on my german windows.

I think this may be a localisation issue with the installer we use or a mistake on microsoft's part. I will look into this.
