Help with remote Microsoft Virtual Server

I need some help setting up FinalBuilder to access a remote Microsoft Virtual Server.

I am trying to pause a running Virtual Machine.

I specified the fully qualified domain to my remote Microsoft Virtual Server, e.g. crush.nee.rnd.company.com

The log shows:
Connecting to crush.nee.rnd.company.com
An error occured : undefined.

The account I am logged in with is in the administrator group on crush.nee.rnd.company.com
and has a permission entry under Virtual Server Security Properties page, along with the Administrators group.

Suggestions on how to get more details on the error are appreciated.

Thanks,
Chris

Thanks for reporting this bug. We were not handling the COM exception wrapping properly in the action, which is why such a vague error was being reported.

I’ll email you a link to a test build this afternoon which will allow you to see a more detailed error message. My guess is that either:

1) You do not have the Virtual Server client COM API installed on the build machine (FinalBuilder requires the COM API on the client.)

or

2) DCOM is not properly configured between the two machines.

Sorry for the inconvenience. As I said, I’ll have a link to a new test build very shortly.

I wasn’t aware of the requirement to install Virtual Server client COM API on my build machine.
I ran the Virtual Server 2005 R2 setup and it upgraded to VS 2005 R2 (I must have had some part of VS installed). During the install and launching the Virtual Server Administration Website and Virtual Machine Remote Control Client, I got a few pop-ups from my client firewall program. I’m not sure if the reinstall or allowing firewall access did it, but pausing the virtual machine worked from FinalBuilder without installing the test build.
