First time with FinalBuilder

Good day,

today was the first time I got in touch with FinalBuilder and it feels quite comfortable. Still, there are some things that confuse me...

In the action: 'VMWare - List Virtual Machines' I can not enter a host port by myself, instead I can only increase / decrease it by one at the time and only in a range from 0-100.

Is there something I might have done wrong?

What I want to do is to get a list of all VM's from our local ESX, check if a VM with the name 'ABC' is running and start it if not.

Somehow I cant manage to get the full 'path' to it, which I could then use to check the VM status action. I already get the full list and can check if it contains the VM-name...

How can I split the variable and get the complete row which contains my search string? Guess it could be done by scripting?

Can I also use FinalBuilder to simulate button presses on a VM?

The calculator-demo was quite impressive and I'd like to automate some kind of test-installation on a VM where I could verify that everything is okay.

(e.g. a very basic GUI test performed by FinalBuilder or automation of the installation process)

Regards,

N

I normaly would not reply to my own post, but I was able to split that list by using built-in features. Guess I could not see the forest for the trees…

Hi N

There are quite often multiple ways to do things in FinalBuilder, sometimes that’s intentional on our part (we found a better way to provide functionality) and sometimes it’s just a by product of new features.

As for automating button presses in a VM, I don’t believe that will work.
