After using finalbuilder 6 some time on a FinalBuilder Development machine I decided it was time to deploy it to the Production Build Servers. I scheduled them and let it rip. Unfortunatly All FinalBuilders crash and do not terminate. I have to kill the process.
Attached is one of the Messages it produces, I hope you can find the problem
Thanks for sending the messages over. I was unable to reproduce the behaviour you’re seeing - it must be due to an interaction between one or another actions in your project.
Would it be possible for you to please email the project file to support at finalbuilder dot com, so we can take a look at it?
In the meantime, a possible workaround is to configure the scheduled projects to use FBCMD instead of the FinalBuilder IDE to run the project(s) - looking at the crash report, it seems to be related to the IDE shutdown procedure.
Thanks for the updated version 6.0.0.608. Unfortunate with the /z options it now hangs with 100% CPU utilyzation when the project is finished. It even looks like it has closed the project, but hangs on shutting down the IDE. No Message, I had to kill the process.
I've scheduled my Project to run every 4 min. and I've noticed coming back to the Build Machine that the systray contained a FinalBuilder checkmark icon. When I moved my mouse over it, it disappeard. This indicates at least one crashed FB.
Also, if you navigate to your Temp directory (type %TEMP% in Windows Explorer), there should be a file called ‘finalbuilder bugreport.txt’. If there is, could you please email it to support at finalbuilder dot com? Thanks very much.
Thanks. I asked because sometimes a thread can crash in the background and write out a bug report, even if the IDE is locked up.
I'm very keen to reproduce this issue, as the only shutdown bug that I could reproduce is now fixed on our test machines with build 608.
The other thing to try may be to leave FinalBuilder when it hangs for a while (5 minutes or more) and see if it either recovers or crashes from the locked up situation. There are some emergency timeouts which may take some time to appear, during which time the IDE may appear locked up.
Thanks for your patience with this.
Regards,
Angus
PS I realise you are probably in a hurry to use this for production builds. In this case I strongly recommend changing your scheduled builds to use FBCMD.exe instead of the FinalBuilder IDE. This ought to get you up and running until we fix this bug.
