Detail View causing high CPU load and memory usage

Hi,

while using Continua a few of my colleagues noticed that their CPU load and memory usage went up when they opened Continua’s Detail View. The memory use also keeps increasing if the page is kept open for a long time. It is not as bad for other views. We have two projects with a total of seven configurations. Whether or not a build was running at the time did not seem to make a difference.
Both Firefox and Chrome seem to be affected. We are using Continua 1.5.0.317.

Regards,
Christoph

Hi Christoph,

We previously had an issue with memory usage on this page and recently implemented some changes which fixed this - at least for us. The memory usage on this tab now fluctuates between 130Mb and 170Mb in the latest version on Chrome on my workstation - but this doesn’t change over a long period of time.

What numbers are you seeing in the Chrome task manager (SHIFT+ESC)? Can you check if there are any errors in the Console in the Chrome Developer Tools (F12)? Also, can you go to the Profiles tab and take few Heap Snapshots - one after refreshing the page and the a couple more after you notice the memory increasing. If you save these and send us the .heapsnapshot files, this will help us to work out what is happening in your environment.

Note that we do have some ideas for increasing performance on the page with large numbers of configurations and we hope to start implementing them soon.

I have sent the heap snapshots to support@finalbuilder.com.
Memory usage started at about 100 MB after refreshing the page. It quickly climbed up to 200 MB after that and after about 30 Minutes it was up to 400+ MB. At that point I stopped the test. I could run a longer test if needed though.
Memory use also still seemed to be climbing when I stopped the test.

Christoph
