Cannot add FinalBuilder to Vault

When you try to add your FinalBuilder project to Vault, it does nothing.  I am not prompted for a location and a quick check of the Vault history shows that no action has been taken on Vault server.

FYI - I’ve entered my Vault configuration in the FinalBuilder options and set it as the default repository.

Hi Zack,

Sorry to hear you’re having problems. I take it that you’re talking about the SCC integration in the FinalBuilder IDE (under File -> Source Control.)

If you look under Tools -> Options -> FinalBuilder -> Source Control Options, do you see Vault as one of the options in the dropdown menu? When you choose “Add Project to Source Control”, does a dialog pop up which includes Vault as an option? Does the SCC provider display any information in the status bar at the bottom of the FinalBuilder IDE window?

Finally, is the FinalBuilder project located inside a Vault working folder?

Are you able to use the Vault IDE integration in other tools (for instance, Visual Studio)?

Sorry for all the questions. If none of the answers provide a clue to the problem, we’ll set up a current Vault installation here and test it out.

Regards,

Angus

PS I notice that the Vault documentation seems to imply that SCC integration is disabled if Vault is not set as the default SCC Provider. I don’t know if this is actually the case, but checking the “Make Vault your default SCC provider” box, as described in the link, may make some difference:

http://download.sourcegear.com/misc/vault/help/client/enabledisableintegration.htm

Thanks for the quick reply Angus,

I can see Vault as an option in the drop down menu, and I’ve set it to be the default source control provider in FinalBuilder.

If I do not setup my Vault credentials in the FinalBuilder options, then I will get prompted to select a repository when I choose Add Project to Source Control.  However, if I HAVE setup my Vault credentials then this step is skipped.

Either way, after selecting “Add Project to Source Control”, I am not prompted for a folder in the repository to add my project to.

The FinalBuilder project is located inside a Vault working folder.

I can use Vault via Visual Studio.

I’ll have to try making Vault my default source control provider and see if that makes a difference.  We’re still transitioning to Vault so right now I have VSS set to be the default.

Thanks again,

Zack

Hi Zack,

Does any information appear in the status bar at the bottom of the screen when you “Add Project to Source Control”?

Regards,

Angus

(FYI -  I’ve now set Vault to be the default source control provider)

When I click “Add to Source Control” the following occurs:

1) Final Builder Saves the file
2) The status at the bottom shows Project: Not under source control
3) In the source control options “Unbind from Source Control” is activated
4) In the source control options “Refresh Source Control Status” is activated

If I then choose to unbind:

1) FinalBuilder saves the file
2) In the source control options, all options are de-activated except for "Add to Source Control"

Thanks!

Zack

Where you guys able to come to any conclusion about this issue? Is there any additional information that you would like for me to provide?

Hi Zack,

Sorry I didn’t get back to you last week. We’re currently in the process of getting a current Vault license so we can install it and test the SCC functionality.

In the meantime, you’ll probably have to keep your projects in source control the old-fashioned way. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Regards,

Angus

Thanks for the update Angus, keep me posted!

Any word on a resolution for this?

Thanks

The Vault people haven’t replied to my email yet. :-(.

If they don’t get back to me soon, I’ll sign up for a 30 day trial and test it that way.

PS Nice mushroom… I’ll have the Mario theme music in my head all day now! :-).

Thanks for the update!

FYI - You can vault indefinitely as the admin user which should be good enough to test with.

Hi Zack,

SourceGear got back to me and I did some testing. Looks like I’m going have to resolve the issue with them (their SCC plugin is choking on something which we’re passing to it.) I don’t think there’ll be a quick fix for this one, sorry.

Regards,

Angus

Thanks, I appreciate your attention to this.

Hopefully it’ll work…someday

Hi Zack,

The Sourcegear team were extremely helpful. This test build should work with Vault. Please download it and let us know how you go:

PS You may have some odd results with any projects you have which are half-bound under the old build. If so, do Unbind Project from Source Control and then Bind Project to Source Control again.

Thanks! I’ll give this a try and let you know.
