Authenticode timestamping issue

Hi.

I'm now getting the following error when using the verisign timestamping service in my Authenticode action.

Error Timestamping file :ASN1 unexpected end of data

Has anyone seen this before and know what it means and where I should start looking to resolve it?

Yours worriedly, Paul Heinz

Hi Paul,

We're getting the same thing on our build machines. Seems like the Verisign timestamp URL is inaccessible:

http://timestamp.verisign.com/scripts/timstamp.dll

We're investigating as well, so we'll let you know when we find a resolution.  Hopefully it's just that the server is offline.

Regards,

Angus

Thanks a million for the feedback, Angus!

Yeah, it does seems to wait for ages and then timeout. "timed out contacting server" would be a much less scarier error message than "ASN1 unexpected end of data" :-)

Anyway, glad it's not just me < phew !>

I've got support emails into Verisign and Thawte (who we got the cert from and are owned by Verisign anyway) so if I get any form of support response, I'll post it here in case anyone else hits this.

Regards,

  Paul.

Seems like the server is back up (I used an Authenticode action with “Retry Attempts” set to 1000 and a one-minute inter-attempt delay to find out when it became available again!)

Hmm… it actually failed again yesterday but seems to be solid again now…
