Agent offline after error/timeout

After such error:

Agent wrp-testauto08 reported an error: Failed to send properties to server: This request operation sent to net.tcp://wrpbuildcesrv01.vgnet.volgrp.com:9000/IAgentRegistrationService did not receive a reply within the configured timeout (00:02:00). The time allotted to this operation may have been a portion of a longer timeout. This may be because the service is still processing the operation or because the service was unable to send a reply message. Please consider increasing the operation timeout (by casting the channel/proxy to IContextChannel and setting the OperationTimeout property) and ensure that the service is able to connect to the client.

Agent is shown as offline, although it’s running.
It happens from time to time. In this case at the same time 3 agents had this error.

Agents are pingable and accessible from the server. Restarting of agents does not help, only reboot of server helps.

For me it seems like recovery is missing on it’s getting locked from re-triggering the check.

Hi

This is likely an issue with WCF - which unfortunately is very poor when it comes to recovery. Right now, the best option is rebooting the server (even restarting the service doesn’t help). We have looked into this issue several times, and have not been able to find a cause or a better solution than the reboot.

We are moving away from WCF for v2 - it has been replaced by GRPC which is much more reliable. Work is continuing on that - but unfortunately I don’t have an eta at this stage.
