ERROR while loading FinalBuilder package C:\Program Files\FinalBuilder 5\FB50CLRHost.bpl

Hi Angus,

I just installed the 560 release, but when I go into options I still see None as a value for CLR hosting.

I installed the update without uninstalling the previous version, does that make a difference?

Thanks,
Jeffry

Hi Jeffry,

I sent you another email with a special debug build which should help us diagnose this issue. Thanks for your patience.

You should not need to uninstall before reinstalling FinalBuilder.

Regards,

Angus

Hi Angus,

Here's the result from the debug version.

Jeffry

CLRDebug.zip (668 B)

Thanks for the extremely rapid response, Jeffry. Unfortunately, while the logging helped narrow it down I'm still not sure what's going on.

I've attached another zip archive with a file, FB50CLRHost.bpl. If you put this in the FinalBuilder program directory (rename the existing file so you can swap it back easily) and launch FinalBuilder, it should write out another more verbose CLRDebug.txt file

The attached file should be compatible with either build 560, or the special build I sent you.

I really appreciate this, thanks. Sorry again for all this hassle. I wish we could reproduce this here and save you the trouble and time.

FB50CLRHost.zip (246.557 KB)

Hi Angus,

No problem. I know what it's like to have a tricky problem that you can't reproduce yourself. It's nice to have a cooperative customer in those cases .

Here's the next debug file.

Jeffry

Hi Jeffry,

Thanks very much for the new debug file. I think we finally have a fix for this issue. The test build is now available to download:

https://www.finalbuilder.com/downloads/finalbuilder/550/FB550_579.exe

If you get a chance, please download it and let us know how you go.

Regards,

Angus

I’m sorry Angus, but I still only see the None option.

Hi Jeffry,

Wow. Sorry for wasting your time again. I’m really scratching my head here. Will look at it over the week and hopefully come up with new inspiration.

Regards,

Angus

Don’t worry, installing FinalBuilder is a breeze so it doesn’t take up that much time

Best regards,
Jeffry

Hi Jeffry,

Glad it's not bothering you too much. I talked it over with the others and we changed the code yet again, hopefully to better trap whatever error is occurring when it tries to read the version numbers. If it's not too much trouble, could you please download this test build and give it a try?

https://www.finalbuilder.com/downloads/finalbuilder/500/FB550_585.exe

Thanks again.

Hi Angus,

I’ve sent you an error report of the 585 build.

Best regards,
Jeffry

Build 560 solved my issues with .NET not starting. But version still isn't selectable.

Hi Dennis,

If your machine has regional settings set to Dutch (like mine has), then build 585 should solve that problem.

Best regards,
Jeffry

The url is wrong, it's https://www.finalbuilder.com/downloads/finalbuilder/550/FB550_585.exe

But it didn't work. There's an error whitch I can continue from. But still there's nothing selectable.

And yes, I've got regional settings set to Dutch, but everything else is in English. Windows, etc. I'm running Vista btw.

Groeten uit Holland dan maar hè?! ;-)

Hi Dennis

Try this build : https://www.finalbuilder.com/downloads/finalbuilder/550/FB550_613.exe

Hello Jeffery, hello Angus,

I also have the same problem like Jeffery, I get this error message on startup (but I am working with .NET version 3.5 instead).

I tried the FinalBuilder 560 from Angus last post, that works good for me - no error message on startup.

Thanks,
Hannes

Thanks, it's working like a charm now...

Only thing is, my current project isn't loaded now! :) Perhaps it's something from the older versions of FinalBuilder, but it says that it "can't determine version int for version  ()."

:-)

Hi Dennis,

I tried to reproduce this with your project and version 613, but couldn’t. It might be something went wrong in the FinalBuilder Options while it couldn’t detect the version properly.

To try and work around it, you should be able to click “OK” or “Continue” to the error dialog, go to the CLR Hosting dialog, choose new hosting options, and restart FinalBuilder.

Sorry for the inconvenience. Please let us know if that doesn’t work.

Regards,

Angus

Hi Angus,

Thanks for the advice, but it didn't work... I tried all three CLR versions and even the "None" option.

There are only a three actions, but it took me some time to find out properties and such. I'd appreciate it very, very much if you could send me an uncompressed version of the project.

Also I appreciate the support. You people are very helpfull!!!

Regards,
Dennis

Hello Coders,

the version 518 loads with the 3.5 - message-bug and dont show me the team foundation - actions

the version 560 show the team foundation actions but cant start it because of missing tfsourcecontrol.dll-assemblies

the version 613 cannot read my project-file (reading error)

If i copy the assemblies\2.0 - folder to 3.5 some troubles gone in version 560 - perhaps this information helps, perhaps your installer has no 3.5-files...
