# Variable scope

I'm adding an Hg trigger to a configuration, but when I'm not seeing any project level variables in the dropdown.

If I add the same variable name in the configuration section, I do see the value.&nbsp; Do I really have to define the variables at the configuration level?&nbsp; I thought variables were supposed to "flow down" to inherited objects?
