# Strange output

Running FB 4.2.0.276 with an “If variable defined” action (for \_DEVROOT) will produce the following output:
[If variable defined]
Variable \_DEVROOT is defined.
Failing because variable is not defined.
While I can easily see that it did not in fact fail, (it just printed the setting for when to fail), the text is quite confusing.
I’m using this to validate the user’s startup environment. If \_DEVROOT is not defined, there’s no point in running the build. Perhaps there are better ways? Or perhaps the message can be changed?
