Hi,

Ive been asked if I could automate the deployment of some updates and am wondering if this is possible and also whether this is best handled by FinalBuilder or Automise.

The process would be as follows:

- User Fred starts the process
- Fred specifies Remote Machine X to be target of first part of update along with a logon and password for X
- Files are copied to relevant directory on machine X
- Fred specified Remote Machine Y to be target of second part of the update along with a logon and password for Y
- Files are copied to relevant directory on machine Y
- etc. etc.

The Remote Machines will be in a different domain to the machine being used by Fred and Fred would not be able to manually connect to the required directory on the remote machine without having to type in a username and password.

Is this possible?

Cheers

Kithran

Hi Kithran,

This could be done using either FinalBuilder or Automise, although Automise is obviously the more appropriate option if you don't need to do any build automation.

You may want to look into using the Map Network Drive actions, which can map and unmap remote network shares using specific credentials. "Fred" could map the remote drives with the required credentials, copy files, then unmap the directories when done.

Let us know if you'd like to see a demo project.

Regards,

Angus

Cheers for that Angus, I should be able to work things out from here. We already have Finalbuilder so it may actually work out a cheaper option than Automise.
