# Git index.lock sometimes prevents Continua builds

Hi Christoph,  
  
We’ve seen this a couple of times but it always seemed to be after an error on server restart. I can’t see how this can happen as we lock every access to the repository cache within a mutex. I’ve rechecked the code and this is always the case.  
  
It’s strange that you get multiple identical messages. Are you sure that these are not for different changeset revisions?  
  
For now, I will add some code to check for and remove the index.lock file before calling this command.
