Hi -

I'm having trouble understanding the "Recreate source hierarchy (relative to fileset base directory)" option of the FileSet Copy / Move Action.

The help file states; Recreate source hierarchy - if this option is not set, then all the files in the FileSet (regardless of their path) will be placed in the destination directory.

So, if I set this option all files copied / moved into the destination will be placed into the same folder structure (ie source hierarchy) as the source.

For example, if my fileset source is c:\temp\reports\Accounting\*.rpt and I use a FileSet Copy / Move action to move the files to folder to c:\reports\ shouldn't the Accounting folder be created in the destination (c:\Reports\Accounting)?

Thanks,

Rob

Hi Rob,

\>For example, if my fileset source is c:\temp\reports\Accounting\*.rpt and I use a FileSet Copy / Move action to move the files to folder to c:\reports\ shouldn’t the Accounting folder be created \>in the destination (c:\Reports\Accounting)?

For this example, if the “base directory” set in the FileSet Define action is C:\Temp\Reports, and you enable the “Recreate source hierarchy” option, then the behaviour will be as you describe.

Otherwise, all of the files will be copied/moved to C:\Reports.

Please let me know if you’d like any further explanation.

- Angus
