# F7 disappeared

Hi Support Team,
In FB 8 the ‘Filter log by Action’ is defective:
- via Actions menu the item ‘Filter log by Action (F7)’ is grayed out (disabled)
- via context menu the item ‘Filter log by Action’ is enabled but is not connected to F7 key

Hi Michael,
Thank you for reporting that the F7 shortcut was not working for the “Filter log by Action” menu items. This shortcut is used by the “Step into” menu item when running. Therefore I have removed this incorrect hint on the “Filter log by Action” menu item. I have also corrected the “Filter log by Action” to work correctly when filtering by the selected action is possible.

Hi Sason,
I know that F7 is used by Embarcadero for 'Step Into'. It seems that 'Step Into' was introduced in FB 8. Thus there is now in FB 8 a conflict for the F7 key.
But I very often used the F7 key in FB 7 to inspect the log for a single action. Now I must use the menu ant cannot use a key. What a pity :-(
Is it possible to make the F7 key working as
- 'Step into' in case the project is running
- 'Filter Log...' in case the project is not running?
I think solution is suitable to satisfy both the "Embarcadero Key Binding Style" user's and experienced FB 7 user's expectations in FB 8.
What do you think about my proposal?

Hi Michael
The shortcut was removed due to a conflict, we just forgot to assign a new shortcut.
Making the same keyboard shortcut do different things is difficult due to how we route the keyboard commands (and not a good idea from a UX point of view). I have changed it to Shift+F7 for the embarcadero bindings and F7 for the microsoft bindings. This will be in the next build.
