# Error in email notifications Build 2859

Hi!
Is any way to resolve this?
After email notification setup I received some errors in event log
Validation email was sended and received without any errors.
Failed to send email notification:
Continua.Shared.Exceptions.EmailException: Failed to deliver email message to _ **@** _._ ** ** _
Mail message assembly failed (error code is 1) —\> SBMIME.EElMIMEError: Mail message assembly failed (error code is 1)

Hi,
The messages you are seeing should be displayed as warnings in the event log e.g with a triangle icon rather than a cross.
Continua actually retries sending the message 4 times, waiting 1 second between each retry. If you see a message “Failed to send email notification after x attempts, discarding message” or “Unexpected error while sending email notification, discarding message” then this implies that there is a problem with the setup.
The “Failed to send email notification” message on its own is nothing to worry about. We will change it in the next build so that it is a debug only message as you don’t need to see these messages in the event log until all the retries have failed.

If you say " then this implies that there is a problem with the setup." why i receive validation email by pressing “Validate” button in “Edit publisher” window without any errors??

The message “Failed to send email notification” can be ignored as Continua will retry.
If you see a message “Failed to send email notification after x attempts, discarding message” or “Unexpected error while sending email notification, discarding message” then there is a problem and we will look into this further. Are you seeing these messages? Are any emails being received by the recipients?
If the emails are not being sent after several attempts then this suggests that there may be a problem with the content of the message. Which subscriptions are set up for this user?
Have you made any changes to the tempates for the related notification types? Is the user subscribed to Event Log Messages. If so can you check if there are any other messages in the event log just before the email failure?

My subscription settings:
Private messages was received successfully

No, all templates are default. In User Preferences checkbox "Receive email in HTML format " is unchecked.
\> Is the user subscribed to Event Log Messages. If so can you check if there are any other messages in the event log just before the email failure?
In Administration -\> Continua Server -\> Event Log I see only email notifications messages.

We have not been able to reproduce this error here, however we did take an update to the smtp & mime library today, please test with the next update and if it still happening then let us know.

The message ‘250 hostname is unknown’ is the response from the SMTP server and is normally related to an issue with DNS or MX records.
Which SMTP server are you using? Can you check that you can send a message to the same email address via that SMTP server using a different email client?

It is our corporate e-mail server

I use Windows Live Mail as email client without any errors

We’re not sure how we can help you any further with this. We are sending a standard email message using the SecureBlackbox component and your SMTP server is replying that hostname is not found. This suggests an issue with the network configuration, perhaps the DNS service is not able to resolve the hostname to an ip address or there is a firewall blocking access. We recommend that you investigate reasons why your SMTP server would be unable to resolve the hostname in the error message.

May be message 250-_ **.** _.\*\*\*\* host name is unknown \*\*\*\*\*\*\*\*\* is not a real error?
Our system administrator said that this message may be successfully ignored while sending email.
Could you make special build for me with more log messages in email sending process?
