# Create Web Site action fails with error "An error occured trying to find the first available index"

Hello I&nbsp;am new to FB so apologies if I'm missing something obvious.

I have an 'Create Web Site (IIS6.0)'&nbsp; action in my project which is consistently failing with the error message

'An error occured trying to find the first available index : '

I am using FB 6 on Windows XP and the server I&nbsp;am trying to create the site on is Windows 2003 Server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

Hi Rupert,   
  
 Do you have any existing web sites configured in IIS on the machine, I’m wondering whether the action is failing because it can’t find a website to get the starting index from. I’m in the process of setting up a Windows 2003 test machine here so I haven’t had a chance to test this yet.

Hi Paul, yes there are a number of sites already set up on the machine.
