# Copy with backup

Hi,  
  
I would like a “backup” option with Copy Files or FileSet Copy/Move actions.  
  
I would like to create filename.ext.bak before overwriting.

Hi Dave,   
  
 Just to make sure I understand this feature request. The backup option will rename any files to be overwritten in the destination folder, those that are not overwritten will be left alone. Is that correct?   
  
 Also what should occur when there is already a backup of the file? Would another option of number of backups to keep be required?

what you are describing is correct.  
  
I checked to see what Beyond Compare does and they overwrite any existing backup file. This seems reasonable to me.
