With increased use of AI to generate documentation, the default (or very common) format seems to be Markdown (.md). I like that it’s a simple text file that works well with repository diff tools and I find using Obsidian is convenient as a developer to view the .md files in multiple repositories and folders; plus, I don’t have to load multiple tools to edit different types of documents.

A few of the files are more user-centered and I’m manually porting them to PDF for those that don’t want the hassle of installing/learning/using Obsidian. Sure, I could find a free command-line tool (or have AI write one for me) to convert these files but it’d be really nice to have it integrated as a native command here in FB. 😃

Doable?

Yes, doable - will look into it but it won’t be for FB8 - the action is getting an overhaul for FB9 because we are dealing with the tech debt underneath it. I did look at this action a few weeks ago and did some investigations on what tech we can use.

Right now we’re busy integrating new scripting engines to replace the legacy JScript/VBScript engines which have caused us so much grief lately. It’s going well - so I am hopeful we can get back to working through the actions in the next few weeks.

FYI this is now implemented for FB9 - the PDF Actions were re-implemented using PDFium - and converting markdown to pdf was included in that work. We are still working our way through all actions - checking for bugs, adding features etc. It’s going well, FB9 is in good shape (new scripting is working well) - still quite a bit to get through but I am hopeful of getting it done and released in the next few months.
