# Canonicalize Path

The variable is configured like:  
Variable Name = “ProjectPath”  
Type = “Variant”  
Group Name = “Directories”  
Default Value = “%FBPROJECTDIR%....”  
Comment = “some comment”

**Steps**

Open the “Edit Variables” dialog  
Double click on the item.  
Change type to String

The checkbox remains disabled, though.

Ok I can reproduce… seems like it’s the default value causing it… need to investigate further.

Thanks. It’s working now. Also the default entries get no longer written.
